Day 8 - Alex's Journal

IT WORKS! Today was a breakthrough day. We finished the strumming program and then connected all five of the buttons, and much to our surprise the bot works! At first we started testing it with slow songs on easy difficulty and it did fairly well. We began tweaking the delay time between input and output in order to get the strumming just right. Then we decided to increase the difficulty so we put the game on expert difficulty and made the bot play the first song on expert difficulty. The bot failed. We tweaked the delay time again and tried a different song. This time the song it played was much more difficult than the first; however, the bot played the song incredibly well! It scored a 90% (it hit 90% of the notes in the song). After more tweaking we were able to have the bot play the most difficult song in the game on expert difficulty and score a 93%! This is truely amazing since none of us, many of whom are experienced guitar hero players, can play that well.
